Childcare at Copper mountain

The Copper Mountain Resort Association (CMRA) is excited to announce the opening of a childcare facility at Copper!  This facility will offer full-time, year-round care to children of employees of businesses located within Copper.  After hearing the overwhelming need for childcare at Copper and throughout Summit County, the CMRA decided to take action.  We were able to find a space within Center Village that could be renovated to accommodate 46 children per licensing guidelines.  Next, we received a substantial grant through the State of Colorado and the childcare facility became a reality.  The majority of the renovation costs are funded by the State of Colorado Department of Early Childhood Employer-Based Child Care grant, the Summit County Commissioners, and the Summit Foundation capital improvements grant.

The preschool is designed to support Copper Mountain employees and their families. Priority for spots will be given to employees that work for a business located within Copper Mountain Resort.  This includes the Resort employees along with independent merchant employees.  If there is availability after that, spots will be opened to Copper Mountain homeowners/residents and then Summit County residents.

Copper Mountain offers an incredibly unique opportunity for children to develop a healthy and playful relationship with the outdoors and movement.  Steps outside of the facility’s doors is a natural playground surrounded by a pedestrian village.  Teachers and students have the opportunity to take lessons outdoors, walks/small hikes, and experience learning within nature.  In addition to the natural elements at Copper Mountain, the Resort offers unique opportunities for access to skiing programs, hiking, as well as the nationally hailed athlete’s facilities like the Woodward Barn.  Children enrolled in our childcare facility will have the opportunity to move, play, learn, and explore creating memories and healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

Winter season ‘23/24 is our target opening date.  We are excited to be able to add this benefit to our community to help with the need now and for years to come.
